Tomorrow I’ll give you the initial report on the quest to find a great Argentine empanada in New York. Daniel, a Buenos Aires native who works at my taxi garage, doesn’t think such a thing exists.
I began trying to prove him wrong by stopping by Buenos Aires Restaurant in the East Village to sample the goods. While the empanadas probably wouldn’t win Daniel’s approval, the t-bone steak might.
Next, I’ll give you a run-down of the journey to the last stop on the L train, where cabbie/X-ray technician Gardy likes to cool his heels and feast on Haitian food at Ambiance Caribbean Restaurant in Canarsie.
Finally, I’ll record my impressions of today’s Out From Behind The Wheel event at the Greene Space, where taxi drivers have been invited to “share their ideas and experiences with city officials, taxi experts and fellow drivers as well their thoughts about how to improve taxi travel for all.” I’m hoping to find something good to snack on beforehand.
