As part of its high-profile 2021 launch last week, Rolex has expanded its basic three-hand Oyster Perpetual series with a new model with a larger case diameter, as well as refreshing its 36mm model with a new dial in a vibrant color scheme, all in Oyster steel.
The new model is a direct descendant of the first wristwatch called the Oyster in 1926, which is credited as Rolex’s first water-resistant wristwatch. These fake watches have the essential features of the modern Oyster Perpetual, including the water-resistant case from which the name “Oyster” is derived, and the self-winding movement activated by the “Perpetual” rotor.
Both the 41mm and 36mm models are water-resistant to 100 meters (330 feet). The Oyster steel case has a screw-down case back with subtle grooves on the edges for a secure seal. It is locked with a special tool that allows only Rolex replica watchmakers to access the movement. The Twinlock winding crown is equipped with a double waterproofing system and is securely screwed onto the case. A scratch-resistant sapphire crystal protects the case and dial.
Inside both the 41-mm and 36-mm cases is the popular, in-house manufacture Caliber 3230. The movement, which Rolex unveiled this year, includes the patented Chronenergy escapement made of nickel-phosphorus.
The Oyster Perpetual models come fitted on a three-link Oystersteel bracelet, whose top links are satin-finished and its side links polished. It uses Rolex’s folding Oysterclasp and Easylink comfort extension link, allowing the wearer to adjust the bracelet by approximately 5 mm.
The refreshed Oyster Perpetual models meet Rolex’s “Superlative Chronometer Certification” – redefined by Rolex in 2015 – which requires each fully assembled timepiece to undergo a series of tests, including testing its performance and precision on the wrist, power reserve, together with the movement’s ability to wind itself. Each timepiece must meet an accuracy of -2/+2 seconds/day or more in order to be named an official “Super Chronometer.”
